ABOUT ME
Ofeliya Zhakayeva — visual artist working with documentary photography and video. She is currently based in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
From 2011 to 2018 she studied photography at the “Apple Art Academy”. In 2019, she shot a documentary film “At Arm’s Length” about a man who lost his sight. In the same year, she graduated from the Academy of Arts with a degree in “Cinema and Television Operator”.
In 2020 she won a grant to study at the School of Contemporary Photography “Doсdocdoc”. In 2021 she graduated from the course “Documentary photography and photojournalism”. She is currently exploring the themes of violence, social inequality and human rights abuses
